A journey of growth and evolution

Released in 2012, Drivvo enables users to easily record and manage vehicle expenses, monitor driver incomes, discover nearby gas stations, and stay informed about regular maintenance tasks.

Overview

What started as an invitation to create a home screen for Drivvo's Android app turned into a long-lasting partnership where I had the opportunity to shape the product, implementing numerous new features, rebranding the company, and successfully launching the iOS and desktop applications.

My role and responsibilities

Working directly with Drivvo's founder and developer, I was in charge of all the company's product and marketing design, including Android, iOS and desktop apps, the website, brand, and communication. Moreover, as a two-person startup with limited resources, we both found ourselves consistently working outside of our areas of expertise.

Trust in the community

As a company with limited resources, yet serving hundreds of thousands of customers in almost every country worldwide, Drivvo always placed great importance on the role of the community to shape decisions. The dozens of emails and store reviews received each month are invaluable in helping to understand areas of improvement, identify new features, and explore opportunities. The launch of Drivvo for iOS in 2017 is an example of this community-driven approach.

Redesign with a focus on growth

The app icon plays a crucial role in shaping users' perception and understanding of its value proposition. Keeping this in mind, we conducted several rounds of A/B testing on Google Play over a few months. As a result of one of the tests, which demonstrated a download increase of over four times the previous rate, we made the decision to embark on a complete brand redesign.

Unlocking new opportunities

Based on user data, it became evident that Drivvo was being utilized by a significant number of companies for fleet management, despite not being specifically designed for that purpose. After engaging with fleet managers, and aware of the potential revenue opportunity, in 2020 we made the strategic decision to develop a desktop version of Drivvo as the initial step towards making fleet management a reality.
